πŸ‚ Looking Forward to Fall // Disapproving Baby Bunnies πŸ˜‚

Hoppy final days of summer! We love the sun but we know some of you are very excited to see the clouds and rain return to Portland...at least for now 🌧️.

The changing of seasons means new goodies in the shop for you and your small pets! Keep your eyes peeled for some new arrival announcements in our newsletter and on our social accounts πŸŽ‰.

We've gotten a few texts recently from friends asking for advice on how to help a wild baby bunny they found.

This is a common question that comes up for us (and probably for many of you), so we put together a graphic and some basic info that can be shared with anyone who asks.

Is it wild or domestic?

Wild bunnies a typically a brown color and have more slender heads and bodies than domesticated pet bunnies. If you aren’t sure, takes pics and reach out to your local rabbit rescue.

Is it hurt?

If you think it is injured or in danger, call your local animal emergency clinic or wildlife rescue to find out how to proceed. Some Portland-area options are Dove Lewis and OCCRA ⛑️

Picking up a wild baby bunny and bringing it inside may feel like the right thing to do but, in most cases, it is best not to interfere. Handling them and feeding them things they are not used to is stressful and can actually do more harm than good.

I already brought it inside or I found it inside; what do I do?

If it isn’t hurt, the best thing you can do is put it back outside as close as possible to where you found it. If you found it hiding somewhere inside, like at your workplace, look for some bushes or tall grass outside where you can release it.

Even if released in a more open area, once released it should quickly hop away and start looking for a safe place to hide.

If you have questions or need help, feel free to reach out to us and we can help point you in the right direction πŸ‘
